The Ren & Stimpy Show is an American animated television series created by John Kricfalusi and originally produced by Spümcø for Nickelodeon that premiered on August 11, 1991, and ended on December 16, 1996. Set in the 1950s and 1960s, the series follows the adventures of the title characters: Ren Höek, an emotionally unstable and sociopathic Chihuahua; and Stimpy, a good-natured yet dimwitted cat.
