Dakkar or "Doggor" was a Somali historical town located in modern-day Somaliland in near Hargeisa it is what is known today as the Aw-Barkhadle town, named after the famous saint Aw Barkhadle or Sheikh Yusuf Al Kownayn. It was part of the Muslim empires in the horn of Africa during the middle ages. It was also burial place for many of the local leaders including the rulers of the Walashma Dynasty that governed the Ifat and Adal Sultanate and kingdoms. Prior to that it was a very important pre-Islamic center.
