Paper Mario is a video game spinoff series of the Mario franchise, developed by Intelligent Systems and produced by Nintendo. The series combines elements from the role-playing and action-adventure genres with other puzzle game aspects. The games follow a paper cutout version of Mario, sometimes aided by other allies, on a quest to defeat the main antagonist, primarily Bowser. The series consists of six games and one spin-off, the first being Paper Mario on the Nintendo 64 in 2000, and Paper Mario: The Origami King being the most recent for the Nintendo Switch in 2020.
