Town in Assam, India

Tangla is a town and a municipal board in what was Darrang district and is now Udalguri district in the Indian state of Assam. It was a prominent business place for jute, beetle nut, rice, etc. and a host of small scale industries and centre of culture in erstwhile Darrang district. Mangaldai-Bhooteachang Road passes through Tangla Town connecting numerous tea estates along the Indo-Bhutan Border. Tangla is famous for its weekly markets which is held on every Tuesday and Friday where vendors from the town itself and far flung areas come to trade in their vegetables, garments, livestock, etc. Tangla is an educational hub in the entire Udalguri district. Students come from many places to study in Tangla.
